Abstract
Objective: The objective of this research is to explore the religious foundations of spiritual confrontation based on the purposefulness of life, relying on the thought of Imam Khomeini, in order to systematically extract the theological foundations of the principles of spiritual confrontation and present a native-Islamic model as an alternative to secular approaches.
Research methodology: A fundamental research of the type of conceptual analysis was conducted using a library method. The keywords of spiritual confrontation, self-efficacy, resilience, hope, anxiety, and positive attitude were searched in the social, mystical, and ethical works of Imam Khomeini (including the manners of prayer, the explanation of the hadith of the soldiers of wisdom and ignorance, forty hadiths and a book) as well as the theories of Western scholars. The inclusion criteria for texts were their relationship with the purposefulness of life and the ability to deduce practical application in the process of confrontation, and purely jurisprudential and fundamental works without a social-mystical approach were excluded.
Findings: The findings of the research showed that spirituality is a formative truth related to the inner self of man, which is realized through faith in God and commitment to the Muhammadan law. Purposefulness in life is not a peripheral component but rather a generative and stabilizing infrastructure for the principles of spiritual coping. The principles of self-efficacy, resilience, hope, anxiety reduction, positive attitude change, and problem solving are linked to the theological foundations of the good order, divine destiny, intoxicated nature, merciful and demonic soldiers, heavenly birth, and love of the world, and go beyond the level of cross-sectional stress management tools.
