abstract
The Islamic revolution in Iran undoubtedly has affected the political equations in islam world and more specifically in the Middle East . Accordingly, since the Islamic revolution in 1979, the conservative regimes in the Middle East especially Saudi Arabia have endeavored to confront the influence of Iranian revolution and prevent the revolution export which could endanger their traditional political regimes.in fact , the islamic revolution in iran has changed the alliances and coalitions in the Middle East. in fact at least in regard to the peace process between Arabs and Israel, two competing fronts namely resistance axil and the coalition of conservatives can be distinguised. Meanwhile, the civil wars in Iraq and Syria have complicated the situation and created new opportunities for conservatives Arabs to confront the Islamic revolution. in fact, arab apring or islamic awakening has affected the borders and geopolitics of the middle east and is a opportunity for many competing regional actors to develop their influence. The fundamental question of the present paper is as follows: how the approach of Saudi Arabia towards the civil wars of Iraq and Syria is linked to the Saudi Arabia confrontational approach towards Iran? The findings of the authors illustrate that Saudi Arabia is endeavoring to decrease the influence of Islamic revolution and the axis of resistance by adopting the regime change strategy in Syria and challenging the hegemony of Shiites in Iraq.
