Abstract

The victory of the Islamic revolution and its reflection in Iraq entailed major transformations in this country. Using the Diffusion theory, this study aims to find an answer for the question that what impact the Islamic revolution of Iran and on the Shia Feyli Kurds in Iraq and what was the Baath regime reaction to this influences.
Research method: this paper using documentary and library method with descriptive - analytical method, investigate the effect of the Islamic revolution on the Kurds of Iraq.
The findings of this study confirm that the Feyli Kurds are an ethnic and religious minority in Iraq and has consanguinities with residents of Ilam and Kermanshah province. Because of ethnic, religious, linguistic ties and geographical neighborhood, they were among the groups that were influenced by the waves of Islamic revolution by tertiary form of relocation, transmission and hierarchy, and fought the Baas regime.
The result of this study suggests that the Islamic revolution has influenced the political and social life of the Feyli Kurds, and the components such as the acceptance of Islamic revolution thoughts and beliefs, religious self-awareness and forming the Islamic movement of the Feyli Kurds, are the dimensions of this effect. On the other hand, the diffusion barriers functions that include a wide range of negative political policy of Iraq’s government in dealing with the Feylies, was widespread violence like Denial of citizenship, mass exile, confiscation of property and mass murder of Feyli kurds, and its effects on the status of this ethnic minority has persisted till now.
