The Brintons’ theory have been used for the study of the islamic revolution. However, in the most of the studies that based on this theory, the role and position of Imam Khomeini in the islamic revolution have been ignored. This article is going to study the position of Imam in the islamic revolution based on Brintons’ theory and also by critical approach to these studies. Therefore, based on the theoretical framework – the Brinton’ theory about stages of revolutionary change – and by content analysis method, SAHIFEH-e-IMAM (volume 6-21) is studied. Based on his stands, characteristics of Imam is compared with any kind of radical, moderate and pragmatic groups; so that is determined Imam Khomeini in which any kind of this groups located? In other words, what relationships are between position of Imam in the islamic revolution and they?
