Objective and Research Question: The present study aims to analyze the stance of the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera regarding the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Accordingly, the primary research question is: How did Corriere della Sera, as a leading Italian media outlet during the revolution, reflect the events of the Islamic Revolution in Iran?

Methodology: To address the research question, the authors employed a content analysis method, examining articles published in Corriere della Sera concerning the Islamic Revolution.

Findings: The findings indicate that the newspaper’s stance toward the revolutionary transformations in Iran can be categorized into three distinct periods. In the first period, the newspaper’s management attempted to depict Iran as a stable and calm country, largely avoiding coverage of the revolutionary developments. In the second period, Corriere della Sera not only covered the revolutionary upheavals but also provided analytical insights into the causes of public discontent and protests in Iran. In the third period, the newspaper adopted a sympathetic and positive stance toward these transformations; during this phase, the prominent French philosopher Michel Foucault was dispatched by the newspaper to Iran to provide empathetic coverage of the events.

Conclusion: The study concludes that Corriere della Sera followed a trajectory distinct from the dominant Western media narratives in reflecting the Islamic Revolution. It sought to provide neutral, fair, and even empathetic coverage of the events surrounding the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
