هدف: این پژوهش، با هدف شناخت دانشگاه اسلامی، دانشگاه سازگار با محیط علمی و اجتماعی انقلاب اسلامی ایران بر مبنای سند دانشگاه اسلامی و تصحیح برخی برداشت‌های ناصواب و سطحی از ایده دانشگاه اسلامی انجام شده است. روش‌شناسی پژوهش: پژوهش کیفی حاضر با استفاده از راهبرد تحلیل مضمون انجام شده است. توجه به هدف مقاله، به سه پرسش شامل مؤلفه‌های اصلی الگوی دانشگاه اسلامی کدام‌اند؟؛ الگوی دانشگاه اسلامی دارای چه ابعادی است؟ و مدل طرح‌ریزی‌شده‌ی دانشگاه اسلامی چگونه اعباربخشی شده است؟ پاسخ داده شده است. یافته‌ها: یافته‌ها شامل ابعاد چهارگانه پژوهش و فناوری، آموزش، مدیریت و فرهنگی- تربیتی و مؤلفه‌های نُه‌گانه شامل سازگاری علمی با محیط پیرامون، ساماندهی ظرفیت‌های علم و فناوری، نظام آموزشی کارآمد، توسعه ظرفیت سرمایه انسانی، رهبری مؤثر در آموزش عالی، سازوکارهای تشویقی و رقابتی، ظرفیت‌سازی‌های نرم، ارزش‌های فرهنگی- تربیتی و ارزش‌های اسلامی- ایرانی، دانشگاه اسلامی، است. نتیجه‌گیری: براساس این پژوهش، ابعاد و مؤلفه‌های دانشگاه اسلامی سازگار با محیط علمی و اجتماعی، یکی از برداشت‌های واقعی مستند از دانشگاه اسلامی است. کیفیت محصولات و خدمات، مسئولیت‌پذیری و پاسخ‌گویی از پیامدهای دانشگاه سازگار با محیط می‌باشد. از این‌رو، یک برداشت صحیح دیگر از دانشگاه اسلامی، دانشگاه با کیفیت، تمدن‌ساز، جامعه‌محور و در تراز انقلاب اسلامی و متعهد به آرمان‌های آن است.
